TESTIMONIALS

I had surgery after breaking my left femur and was fortunate to work with Matt and his team of physical therapists. From the start, Matthew's professionalism and excellent bedside manner gave me confidence in my recovery.

Even despite the pain, the experience was enjoyable, and I looked forward to my therapy sessions. The care I received was exceptional, so much so that I requested to continue outpatient therapy with Matt's team after I returned home. — John

"In 2023, at just 22 years old, Tania suffered a hemorrhagic stroke due to an AVM rupture, leaving her unable to move the right side of her body or speak. Despite doctors' initial doubts about her recovery, Tania’s therapists believed in her potential.

Matthew, one of her key therapists, played a pivotal role in her rehabilitation. His unwavering dedication, patience, and motivation helped Tania regain her ability to walk and climb stairs after intensive therapy. Even after a second surgery, Matthew continued to support her, and today, Tania can walk, hike, and use stairs with no assistance. She remains grateful for Matthew's care and belief in her recovery."

Matt holds a special place in my heart. I met Matt in October 2023, after my 51 year old husband suffered a massive right cerebellar hemorrhagic stroke. After nearly three weeks in the ICU and Telemetry Wing, my husband moved to the

Acute Rehabilitation Unit for intense rehab.

During my husband’s initial evaluation. Matt was incredibly sympathetic, listening to both my husband’s and my concerns and hopes for his recovery. It would have been easy to placate us, given the degree of damage in the right cerebellar region of the brain; even the neurologist was doubtful about a return to normal activities and work. Even though my husband’s long-term prognosis wasn’t positive, Matt didn’t discourage him from working towards a full recovery.

During the evaluation itself, Matt was so kind to my husband, both encouraging him to do his best while acknowledging the areas on which to work. In addition to losing movement in his right side and having double-vision, my husband lost many

higher order executive functioning skills as well. Matt worked with my husband over the 10 day stay in the rehabilitation unit. Matt was present for the ups and downs, creating a plan to address his double-vision, walking, balance, and stamina.

Matt was always upbeat and positive with my husband. They developed a strong rapport, talking about college football and the process of distilling whiskey. In addition to working closely with my husband, Matt encouraged my active participation in the rehabilitation process, including me in the workouts, tossing foam balls or hoops, and teaching me how to safely ‘spot’ him with the walker. Matt always made me feel a welcome part of the process. I cannot say enough about Matt’s ability to balance support with pushing my husband. Although my husband was cleared to go home and continue his rehabilitation as an out-patient, we have maintained contact with Matt. I am excited to see the next phase of Matt’s career. I know he will continue having an impact on all of his patients.

I am fortunate that Matt is my therapist. I have Multiple Sclerosis (MS) and within the last 10 years my gait and fatigue has gotten the best of me. Added to the effects of my MS, I broke my hip in June 2024. Recovery was a very, very, very difficult concept for me to wake up to, especially knowing the challenges I was facing. Anyone that knows the feeling of being defeated can relate; I felt as though the usual “kick in my step” was difficult to find!

After an initial injury or diagnosis, life is all about recovery while you are working at healing. Then, it’s all about doing all you can get back to your personal baseline. If you are lucky, you have a therapist like Matt who believes in you. A therapist that believes in you to get back to your “ridiculous sense of humor.” From the beginning, we agreed to try to get my smile back, the smile I have always had. I knew from our first meeting that we would make a great team.

From first day of my physical therapy Matt infused a burst of sunshine into my outlook. Matt has a smile that any toothpaste commercial would endorse, that smile, and sense of humor made my entire stay in rehab so much easier to deal with emotionally. Having a therapist and a team who joked and laughed along with me, meant a lot to me.

By keeping track of my progress, answering my questions, and being available for support, Matt far exceeded my expectations, which set him apart from the physical therapists I have had in the past. Matt embodies the number one characteristic as a therapist and a human being that is truly unique, and truly hard to find, and that is sincere empathy. Matt’s many talents including his compassion, expertise in his profession, and willingness to go to the ends of the earth to help guide his patients through the growing pains of recovery is astronomical!

My perseverance had hard work was greatly enhanced with Matt Eclevia next to my bedside. Progression is one of the goals of physical therapy, but enjoying the process is a gift. Matt and his team showed me that physical rehabilitation is NOT about being forgotten or being a statistic.

I genuinely needed Matt to redefine my concept of rehabilitation to start my healing journey. Thank you, Matt for redefining rehab, for not forgetting me, for never letting me give up and for giving me faith in my ability to progress.
